Newborn Session | Raleigh Newborn Photographer

While I was on vacation this summer, my mom and I made an epic drive from Northern Colorado to Phoenix, Arizona to watch my twin nephews for a week. We took my two girls with us (ages 6 and 2), and amazingly enough, they handled the 2 day drive MUCH better than I could have possibly hoped. Thank goodness for mini vans and portable entertainment systems – even if it meant listening to hours upon hours of Dora the Explorer and her best friend Boots yelling from the backseat. At least we didn’t have to listen to a screaming two-year-old or bickering siblings.;)

Anyway, to make a long story short, we decided it would be a good idea to break up the trip back home so that the girls wouldn’t have to spend as many hours in the car each day. We met my brother and sister-in-law in Las Vegas and let the 4 kiddos spend the evening in the pool. The next morning, we left the twins with their parents and piled back in the van to drive to Salt Lake City. My sweet cousin had delivered her baby boy a couple weeks prior, and really wanted me to do newborn portraits for her. At first, I didn’t think the timing would work out, because I was spending the majority of my vacation in Colorado, but with the drive back through Salt Lake, I had just enough time to sneak in a short portrait session.

We arrived in Salt Lake right during rush hour (and if you’ve ever had the “pleasure” of driving in the Salt Lake Valley during rush hour, you know exactly what that entails – if you haven’t experienced it, I don’t recommend it), which meant we arrived at my cousin’s house a bit later than I would have liked. We were running out of good daylight, and her little man wasn’t terribly interested in sleeping without being swaddled. We had to do a LOT of snuggling in between poses. Luckily, my camera handles low light situations like a dream, so we were able to capture some beautiful images of her handsome son. Even more luckily for me, he didn’t make any messes on my uncle’s favorite chair – such a well-behaved baby, don’t you think?

So without further ado, let me introduce you to Baby Dallin.

Oh, wow! These are just gorgeous! Beautiful use of light. It takes a pro to know what to do when the light starts fading out, but you knew just how to find it and use it!
